Greensboro College Men’s Golf Finishes O’Briant-Jensen Memorial Tied for 2nd

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) — The Pride men’s golf team completed its strongest performance of the year with a tie for second place at the O’Briant-Jensen Memorial, hosted by Guilford College. Both Greensboro and Methodist shot identical 298’s on both Day 1 and Day 2 to finish tied at 596. The Quakers of Guilford continued their strong play, narrowly edging The Pride and Monarchs for first place by two strokes. Greensboro finished 27 strokes ahead of fourth places LaGrange.
Nick Peoples was the top individual finisher for The Pride, completing his two rounds with a score of 145 (72, 73) to place in a tie for sixth. Ben Nihart finished in a tie for ninth at 148 (71-77) and Kirk Mitchell improved 10 strokes from yesterday’s first round to finish 17th at 152 (81-71). Joshua Hudgins (154) and Scott Novicki (158) rounded out the tournament for Greensboro.

Six schools in the tournament were ranked among the top-35 teams in the Oct. 19 Golfstat.com Division III Head-to-Head Standings. The O’Briant-Jensen returned to the renovated Pete Dye-designed Cardinal Golf and Country Club in 2008 following two years at the Greensboro Country Club

The Pride have completed their fall schedule and hope their strong finish will push them higher up the national rankings before the spring season starts.
