West Rowan High School football coach that had a heart attack Monday(yesterday) plans to be coaching this Friday

West Rowan coach Scott Young, whose team has won three straight NCHSAA 3-A football titles, had a heart attack last night(Monday) and if all goes well, he plans to be back coaching again this Friday(last game of the regular season)……

Young felt pain in his chest and then he jumped in his truck and drove himself to the hospital and they put in a stent to open up his blocked artery and today(Tuesday) he seems to be doing fine, if you ask him….He’ll ask his doctor if it is a go on Friday and if so, he will be right back up there in the press box, calling out all the plays for his West Rowan Falcon team, in their last game of the regular season and just one week before the NCHSAA playoffs are set to begin……

It was an blocked artery that shut down the Young man/coach and the inserted stent got his artery opened up and got the good blood flowing again……

Very interesting read and here is the key line or two from the Charlotte Observer and Coach Young on the situation….

“Last Thursday, I felt a little mild pain in the chest,” Young said. “But I went to the football game (last Friday) and went to my son’s baseball game on Sunday. I felt fine. (Monday) night, that all changed.”
