College Volleyball Final – Guilford 3, Salem, 0

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Laura Kopald and Mary Moody both had eight kills in visiting Guilford College’s 25-16, 25-17, 25-14 road volleyball win at Salem College Thursday night. The Quakers’ (12-14) fifth straight win marked their 10th victory in 13 games and gave Guilford a sweep of the season series with the Spirits (4-24).

Kopald, who also contributed three service aces and two blocks, accounted for a game-high 13 points on the night. Sophomore Malikah French put away five of her six kills in the third set and also had 3.5 blocks to account for 10.5 points. Setter Taylor Whitley had 30 assists, two aces and nine digs. Libero Taylor Phillips made a match-high 14 digs and Moody had 13.

Randi Rappolo’s five kills and two service aces led the Spirits. Hart Wagner had two kills and nine digs. Salem managed just -.130 hitting as a team.

The contest completes Guilford’s regular season. The Quakers are the sixth seed for the upcoming Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament and visit third-seeded Lynchburg College next Wednesday (11/2) at a time to be determined.
