Greensboro College Cross Country Teams Conclude Season at USA South Championship

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) — The Greensboro College men’s and women’s cross country teams concluded their 2011 campaign on Saturday with the USA South Championships. The Pride men finished fourth overall while the women placed sixth.

The men were led by Lance Albritton, who finished the 8K course at Hagan Stone Park in Greensboro in 29th place with a time of 39:37.78. Clifford Barnett Jr. (pictured) also had a strong finish in 32nd at 37:44.44. Following one spot behind Barnett was Matthew Moscatello in 37:43.61. Rounding out the top five for Greensboro were Keegan Lax in 36th at 39:43.03 and Jonathan Deming in 37th at 39:52.90.

Also finishing for the men were Nick Ciglio (40:17.10), Lugman Tijani (41:30.81) and John Downs (50:50.36). Overall, the men’s top five recorded 109 total places. Christopher Newport took first with 27 places.

On the women’s side, Andrienne Terrell posted the best time on the 6K course in 30:38.03 which was good for 38th place. She was was followed by Kayla Gonzalez in 40th at 30:43.27 and Amanda Meinhardt in 41st at 30:43.38. Anne-Marie Greene turned in a 52nd place finish at 35:14.13 and Briona Ramsey finished out the top five in 42:22.32.

Megan Whitcomb also completed the race in 46:32.61. The women as a team finished with 176 total places. Christopher Newport completed the sweep with a first place total of 29 places.

Andre Porter and Meinhardt were both recognized on the USA South Cross Country All-Sportsmanship Teams.
