MOCKSVILLE
Davie County, which had an amazing run to the NCHSAA 4-A championship game last season, failed to make it out of the first round this season.

After leading the entire game against Greensboro Dudley, Davie saw its season come to a stunning end Friday night when Richard Hayes lofted a 34-yard Hail Mary touchdown pass to Brandon Reynolds with six seconds left, giving Dudley a dramatic 29-25 victory. No Davie players could even get a hand on the high-floating ball.

Coach Doug Illing of Davie said it shouldn’t have come down to that one play.
