College Swimming Results – Guilford Falls to Sweet Briar, Emory & Henry

SWEET BRIAR, Va. – Guilford College’s women’s swimming team fell in two Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) matches Saturday at Sweet Briar College. The host Vixens scored a 64-18 victory over Guilford and Emory & Henry College recorded a 46-30 win. Sweet Briar also defeated Emory & Henry, 59-23, in the ODAC tri-meet.

Sweet Briar won eight of the 11 events. Emily Jones won the 400-meter and 800-meter freestyle races. Chloe Day captured two sprint races, winning the 50 free in 30.34 seconds and the 100 backstroke in 1:11.13.

Emory & Henry’s Kaitlyn McNabney picked up two wins and swam the lead leg on the Wasps’ winning 200 freestyle relay squad. She won the 100 breaststroke in 1:25.65 and the 200 individual medley in 2:40.72.

Senior Kelcey Johnson turned in Guilford’s best effort with a second-place time of 1:40.16 in the 100 breaststroke. She also anchored the Quakers’ 200 freestyle relay team that placed second in 2:37. 56. Naomi Lewis (800 freestyle), Becca Bacon (100 butterfly) and Amanda Williams (400 freestyle) all had third-place finishes.

Coach Steve Kaczmarek’s team (0-4, 0-4 ODAC) returns to action Jan. 21 at Ferrum College.
