Clemson Downs The Citadel on the Road, 73-50
CHARLESTON, S.C. – Clemson used a stingy defense and held The Citadel to 30.2 percent field goal shooting Wednesday in a road win over the Bulldogs, 73-50. The game was the first played between the two schools at McAlister Field House since the 1989-90 season. The win was the Tigers’ 14th straight in the series, dating to 1978-79.

The Bulldogs didn’t fare well offensively against Clemson’s relentless defense. After shooting 8-for-26 in the first half, the Bulldogs shot even worse in the second half, 11-of-37. Clemson, conversely, shot 53.7 percent for the game, making 29-for-54 from the field. The Tigers were 4-of-9 from three and 11-for-22 from the free throw line. Clemson won the rebound battle, 40-38, and added 11 blocked shots and six steals.

#24 FSU Halts Hatters, 79-66
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Leonard Hamilton said before the season ever started that his Florida State men’s basketball team “would win games by committee.”

Three games into the 2011-12 campaign and the head coach’s sentiments have proved true. The No. 24 Seminoles defeated visiting Stetson 79-66 Wendesday night at the Donald L. Tucker Center behind double-figure scoring from Deividas Dulkys, Okaro White and Bernard James.

Painter Splashes Game-Winner Over Princeton
RALEIGH, N.C. – DeShawn Painter’s turnaround jumper from the top of the key with 4.2 seconds remaining capped NC State’s comeback win over Princeton 60-58 Wednesday night at the RBC Center.

The game-winner gave Painter 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting. For the first time in his career, the junior notched his third-consecutive double figure outing.

Wake Forest Takes Down Georgia Southern, 81-72
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest was held in check early, but 20-point games from both sophomore Travis McKie and junior C.J. Harris provided enough firepower to take down Georgia Southern, 81-72, at Lawrence Joel Coliseum on Wednesday evening.
With the win, the Deacons improve to 2-0 on the season. Georgia Southern, which dropped its season opener to Valparaiso, falls to 0-2.
