Guilford(2-0)/Greensboro College(1-1)

Wild finish as Greensboro got the ball out of bounds, after Guilford lost possession in the backcourt and the Pride got a look at the basket with just seconds left, but could not get off a good shot from deep in the right corner and the ball bounded away and the horn sounded, ending a very wild game…..

More details on this Wild One coming in soon from Greensboro Collge and Mitchell Fastenau….

Danielle Duncan(Ragsdale High School) broke the women’s career scoring mark tonight, as her 12 points took her to 1,529 on her Greensboro College Pride career….The old mark was held by Stephanie Magnus and it was set from 1990-1994….Magnus posted 1,520 points in her Greensboro College career……

Wild night and a wild finish in that mens game tonight and as we predicted, the floor was very slick, with all the humidity and the warm temperatures outsiide….I’m sure December will be different than this, but tonight it was very slick inside the Hanes Gymnasium(Very warm too with the place packed and 70 degrees outside.)….Very wet outside, as the game ended with rain coming down in buckets……Buckets inside too, but the GC men can’t seem to get the inside on Guilford College…..Too many second chances for Guilford, coming off the boards and inside position coming the Quakers way on missed free throws and the Quakers should not have been getting those rebounds off of their missed free throws, but they were and that led to second chance baskets and a new shot clock, when the Quakers needed to kill some time…..

Wild night, but a good night and the Pride honored their DIII National Champion Golf Team at halftime of the men’s game…

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Rookie Will Freeman scored 10 of his team-high 12 points in the second half to lead Guilford College past Greensboro College, 60-59, Wednesday night. Damian Dixon’s three-pointer at the buzzer fell off the mark, preserving the Quakers’ (2-0) road win over their city rivals.

Guilford prevailed despite eight-for-19 free-throw shooting in the second half. The Quakers made up for their struggles by outrebounding the Pride in the half, 27-11. Fourteen of the boards came off the offensive glass, which led to 14 points.

The Quakers trailed by 10 after Brock Moorman’s traditional three-point play 16:09 into the second half. Down 35-30, Guilford grabbed four offensive rebounds on a single possession before Carson Sullivan scored on a drive to the basket. His only field goal of the game the 13-minute mark pulled Guilford to within three.

The teams traded baskets before a Pittman steal and layup with 4:19 remaining gave Guilford the lead for good, 54-53. The Quakers outscored Greensboro, 11-6, in the final five minutes and held the Pride to a pair of three-pointers in that time. Dixon’s trey with 16 seconds left provided the game’s final margin.

Freeman, a freshman, made five-of-seven shots from the floor and grabbed six rebounds. Pittman and Gabriel Lowder both finished with 11 points for Guilford. The Quakers held a 46-34 rebounding advantage.

Luqman Tijani led Greensboro with 12 points off the bench. T.J. Holman and Moorman both added 11.

Both teams will play in the Hilton Garden Inn Invitational this weekend at Guilford. The Quakers play Johnson & Wales (N.C.) Friday at 6:00 p.m. Afterwards, Greensboro will play Bridgewater at 8:00 p.m.
