Phenom Quote of the Day: “Good character is not given to us. We have to
build it piece by piece; by thought, choice, courage, and determination.”

Phenom Hoop Report Philosophy: “Balanced, thorough and detailed evaluations
based upon the 3 P’s philosophy of Performance, Production, and Potential”

Coach Steve Smith and his Oak Hill Warriors concluded its pre-Thanksgiving
schedule with a 102-69 victory over a very good and well coached Harrison
County HS team from Atlanta, Georgia. Harrison County finished 22-7 last
season and lost in the second round of the Georgia 5A playoffs and were
returning 6’10 Marshall Guilmette who has committed to East Carolina.
Guilmette is a versatile player that plays with intensity, passion and
purpose. Oak Hill started strong and opened up an impressive 27-12 first
quarter lead and pushed the lead to 57-23 at halftime. The 34 point cushion
was enough to put the game on cruise control as the lead ballooned to 40
before the final 33 point win.

Oak Hill played one of its better halves in the first half Thursday night
against Harrison County and exhibited more intensity and passion in the
previous games on Monday & Tuesday night. 6’5 Junior WG RJ “Microwave”
Curington led the Warriors with 30 points with 20 of them coming in the
second half. We recently commented that Curington’s play early this season
has pushed him into a top 50 national rankings in our opinion. Curington
went 8-10 from the floor and hit an impressive 7-8 three pointers and went a
perfect 7-7 from the free throw line. He also finished with 6 rebounds and
continued to bring that instant energy off the bench and scoring production.

6’3 Senior SG D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera was solid once again by scoring 23
points going 9-18 from the floor and 4-4 from the free throw line. He had
also 3 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 assists to round out his play. 5’11 Senior
PG Tyler Lewis played an outstanding first half and finished with 19 points
(17 came in first half) going 8-11 from the floor and 1-1 from the free
throw line. Lewis dished out a team high 6 assists and grabbed 3 rebounds.
7’0 Senior Center AJ Hammons finished with 9 points, but grabbed 5 rebounds
and blocked 5 shots. 6’6 Senior PF Darion Clark finished with 8 points but
corralled a team high 11 rebounds. 6’2 Junior PG Ike Igobue finished with 5
points while 6’5 Senior WG Jordan Adams and 6’6 Senior PF Jordan Tebbutt
tallied 3 points while 6’5 Senior WF Damien Wilson rounded out the scoring
with 2 points. It was a rather quiet night offensively for the Jordan Adams
as he went 1-7 from the floor but did manage to get 6 rebounds, 5 steals and
4 assists

Oak Hill shot 36-73 for 48% from the floor and a stellar 18-24 from the free
throw line for 75%. In addition, Oak Hill had a total of 23 assists to only
12 turnovers. Overall, a good solid win over a high caliber 5A team from
Atlanta, Georgia. The first half was vintage Oak Hill basketball, but the
team was already thinking Thanksgiving break in the second half. Oak Hill
will be on Thanksgiving break and will return to campus Monday, November
28th. Oak Hill played a demanding 6 games within a 10 day period and will
face still competition in December. Oak Hill is now 10-0 for the season and
enjoyed impressive outing in the pre-season against Fork Union Military
Academy, Massanuttan Military Academy along with a big win over Hargrave
Military Academy, who is one of the top prep teams in the country.
