Guilford College runner Chad Norton finishes 177 at NCAA DIII National Cross-Country meet

Norton Finishes 177th at National Race

Winneconee, W.I. – Running in a huge field of nearly 300 runners,
Guilford College sophomore Chad Norton ran 25:45.71 and placed 177th in Saturday afternoon’s NCAA Division III
National Cross Country Championships.

Norton was making his first appearance at the national meet after earning
the trip to the Championships by finishing in sixth-place at the Nov. 12
NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regional Championship in Seguin, Texas.
He was the lone runner competing in the race for the Quakers.

Norton’s finishing time of 25:47.71 was his personal best and falls as the
5th fastest 8K time in Quaker history.

North Central (Ill.) won its 14th national championship in program history
on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals pulled away from defending national
champion Haverford to take home the title. Sophomore *Matt Perez* lead his
team with a third place finish (24:15.17), but all five runners placed in
the top 40 to finish with 110 points as a team to win the meet.

Senior *Ben Sathre* captured the NCAA Division III National Champion title
(after finishing second in 2010) as he crossed the finish line in 23:44.27.
