Raleigh, N.C. – The Quakers came back after a tough loss to a strong
Concordia College team on Friday night to earn their first win of the
season over Peace College, 66-41.

Guilford (1-2) jumped out to a lead and continued to add points to the
board throughout the game. After a slow start, the Quakers got the
offense flowing
and headed into the locker room with a 30-21 lead at the half.

The Quakers were determined to make a statement and came out strong in the
second half. Guilford went on a 12-0 run, with King, Oglesby and Jaclyn
Nucci each scoring four points apiece to build a 20 point lead.
In a game that saw many five-for-five subbing rotations for the
Quakers, Morgan
King lead the attack with
her first double-double of the season. She finished with 10 points and 10
rebounds including a perfect 4-4 from the free-throw line and a team-high
five assists. Fellow sophomore post Gabby
Oglesby added
14 points and six rebounds. Guilford really used their height to their
advantage as reserve freshman post players Amber
Weaver and Brittany Connor had an immediate impact off the bench. Weaver had 10 points and six rebounds while Connor chipped in with six points and nine boards.

The Pacers (0-3) were lead by Derrica Jones’ team-high points and
rebounds, with eight and 10 respectively. Freshman Callie Yohn ripped down
six rebounds and chipped in seven points. Crystal Alston added eight
points, including the team’s only two three-pointers of the contest.

The Quakers held a 63-39 advantage on the boards and dished out 21 assists
in a well-balanced team win. They will be back in action on Tuesday night
as they travel to Washington and Lee for the first Old Dominion Athletic
Conference match-up of the season. Game time is set for 7p.m.
