  1. They don’t play real competition. now truth be Dudley High School has the FINEST girls team, but we not going to tell gbd to bring it, cause that wouldn’t be fair for gbd now would it.

  2. Actually Greensboro Day has the finest. I agree with GBD . It’s just because the GDS girls skill set is so much higher than the other teams they have played.

  3. I got to see a scrimmage jamboree with Bishop McGuinness, Dudley and SW Guilford. I saw Bishop McGuinness beat Dudley and tie SW Guilford even after playing an overtime period. Dudley is good as always. SW Guilford returns most of their talent from a 3A state championship team. Bishop has 6 very good girls 6’0 or taller including major D1 recruit 6’1 G/F Cameron Neiters who is only a sophomore along with sophomore guard DeFrancesco and one of the best 9th graders in Forsyth County who came in. The Goldsmith girl is only a D3 commit but does a good job at the point. They have massive depth and execute well. This is the same group that won state games this summer easily knocking off FCD, Northern Guilford SE Guilford by double digits along the way. All 3 of these teams are very good. GDS has two excellent players and they are a program on the rise. I am not sure they have the depth all the way around yet but I imagine they will within a year or two. When GDS plays Thomasville Prep and especially Providence Day, that should be a good test for them. Good luck to all.

  4. Here we go already with who can beat their chest the hardest and we still have not gotten to Thanksgiving. I think there were a lot of good points made and a few totally unnecessary concerning the girls. Dudley clearly has a great pipeline of talent that southeast Greensboro is able to feed their program year after year. Dudley’s system is based on speed, defensive pressure and always attacking. 80% of their competition will not have the athletes to match their speed. SW and Page have also had several pipelines for their programs in recent years. Northern and NW do not have that nature pipeline of speed and aggressive players but they often have good size and great shooters. There does seem to be a trend of more girls following the boys route of going to these private/academy schools. Thomasville Prep not only has a lot of local talent but girls from all over the world. They are likely the best or 2nd best team in the state only behind Providence Day. Both of these teams likely have 7 or more D1 players on their current rosters each. Most public schools are lucky to even have 1 such player (ie Page with Paris or Northern with Coffer). Dudley and SW are probably the only local Greensboro public school with several D1 players. I would also agree that the GDS team is much better than in past years. They may have as much AAU quality players as any team in the area other than Dudley, SW and Thomasville Prep. Someone noted that GDS does not play any competition – the GDS girls schedule shows teams such as Providence Day (#25 in the nation & #1 in the state for all schools), Thomasville Prep (#1 or #2 in the state for all schools), and other top ranked schools such as Cary Academy, Hickory Grove, Ravencroft, and Charlotte Christian. GDS has some dogs on the schedule but they are playing their share of high level teams. Looking at the public school schedules, most of them have a lot of dogs on their schedule. I will save those schools from calling them out on this site but a lot of them are in Northern and Southern’s conference with small 2A & 3A schools. Even the 4A schools had some real big dogs within their conference last year. Thus, the girls from Dudley, Page, SW, Reynolds, Northern and NW will dominate their conference schedule every year and only play a couple of high level teams prior to the state playoffs (excluding Dudley which is not afraid to play anybody). Good luck to all of the teams even though we already know who will come out on top in the end for the girls.

  5. That Time

Can you name some players from the conference that you say are weak compared to Dudley and a few others that could not play for any team in this area that you just named?
