In this season’s first matchup of these High Point rivals, the Red Raiders of TW
Andrews came to visit the Ranch of the Cowboys of Southwest. The game began with the
teams going blow for blow with the home squad holding a slim 16-13. The second frame
saw the same heavy weight bout with Southwest stretching the lead to 5, only to see
the Raiders claw back and tie it up. The Cowboys used a 6-2 spurt to end the half at
34-28. The bout continued as the second half was the same. 5 point lead, tied up.
The third ended with another Cowboy quick spurt to end it at 50-43. The fourth was a
different story as the Cowboys finally woke up and used back to back buckets out the
gate and the lead got to its largest margin at 54-43. But again the Raiders fought
back again. This time the Cowboys responded right away with huge back to back 3’s by
Jordan Hanner that broke it open to 65-49. Southwest’s Brandon Clyborn was huge on
the defensive side of the ball having 8 blocks. Andrews was paced by Jalen Ford,
Jonathan Curtis, and Tyrin Miller with 13,12, and 11 points respectively. Southwest
was spearheaded by the trio of Jordan Hanner, Terrell Leach, and Brandon Clyburn’s
24, 20, and 10 points apiece. The Cowboys outscored the Raiders 19-9 in the final
frame making the final tally 69-52 keeping the Cowboys undefeated while handing the
Raiders their first loss of the year.

GDS just defeated UNC-JV’s. GDS scored 95 points with Jalen Ross scoring 29. A friend of mine called and told me this about 15 minutes ago. I think GDS won by 5.
