Carolina Cheetahs Ranked #8 in ABA Top 24 Putting Triad Professional Basketball on the Map

Greensboro, NC (Piedmont Triad) – The American Basketball Association (ABA) released its Power Rankings for the week ending December 4th , and the Carolina Cheetahs move up the rankings. The Carolina Cheetahs advance 6 spots to be ranked 8th in the league, according to ABALive.com. The Triad’s ABA team had a great weekend tearing up the competition with back to back wins.

“I am so excited for my players, they played hard and now we have moved from #14 to #8 in the ABA top 24,” says Carolina Cheetahs Coach Baugh.

Away Game Highlights:
Saturday, December 3rd : The Cheetahs defeated the Fayetteville Flight once again with a 114 – 110 close win. A late 3 point basketball by Chris Woods broke open close game between the Carolina Cheetahs and Fayetteville Flight. The Cheetahs had defeating them November 27th at a home game 113 – 107.

Home Game Highlights:
Sunday, December 4th: The Carolina Cheetahs controlled the entire game as they cruised to a convincing 132 – 101win over the Appalachian Rapids. The Appalachian Rapids team is the ‘traveling team’ of the West Virginia (VA) Blazers ABA team.

In a game that could have been a possible “trap” game against the Rapids, the Cheetahs put on a spectacular performance last Sunday evening as they improved to 5-1 on the season. The Cheetahs had six players in double figures led by a stellar all-around game by CJ Pigford who had 16 points.

Triad celebrity “Que Diddy Raley” received the honor of being the 13th man for the rolling Cheetahs and he contributed with a couple of defensive steals along with some assists. The Cheetahs have now won 4 in a row and seem to be playing puuuurfect basketball as of now.

“The future for the Carolina Cheetahs is very bright, because of the efforts of these men both on the floor and off the floor,” said Coach Baugh, “We will do everything we can as a team to be successful, both now and in the future. We will continue to be professional and strive for greatness.”
The next away game is Saturday, December 10th at 7:30 against the Lynchburg Legends who they defeated in their season opener (Nov 19th) 115 – 106 to collect their first victory of the season.

The Cheetahs play their next home game at UNCG Fleming Gymnasium on the main campus, just off of Walker Avenue and Aycock Street (1320 Walker Avenue). The game is Sunday, December 12th at 5:00pm against the Greenville Trojans.
