Elon’s Mackey Named to All-Southeast Region Women’s Soccer Third Team

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Elon University women’s soccer sophomore defender Olivia Mackey has been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Southeast Region Third Team. Mackey was one of four Southern Conference players to earn all-region accolades.

A native of Leesburg, Va., Mackey started all 20 games for the Phoenix in 2011, finishing with three assists. She helped anchor an Elon defense that recorded seven shutouts this past fall. Mackey recorded an assist in Elon’s record-setting 8-2 win over Chattanooga on Sept. 26, while also earning assists against conference foes Furman and Western Carolina. Mackey earned the assist on Simi Dhaliwal’s game-winner off a well-place 30-yard free kick in the in the 110th minute versus Western Carolina on Oct. 23 to lift Elon to a 2-1 double-overtime win over the Catamounts on Senior Day. Mackey was also a second-team all-conference selection this past season.
