In the highly anticipated matchup of 2 of the area’s top teams, the Cowboys of
Southwest faced off against the very talented Bengals of Greensboro Day. And
unfortunately only 1 of the talented teams showed their ability. The first quarter
was like a sprint, as both teams shot the ball well, but the athletic Bengals used a
quick 8-0 spurt at the end of the quarter to pull ahead 24-15. The hot shooting
continued, but only for the Bengals as they used turnovers and offensive rebounds to
just cruise out to a 21 point lead at the break, 49-28. The second half was the same
story with GDS still stroking it from everywhere on the floor as the Cowboys just
couldn’t put the ball in the basket consistently. The Cowboys were outplayed and out
muscled by the a very solid GDS team, 91-77. Southwest was lead by Terrell Leach
(21), Jordan Hanner (21), and Brandon Clyburn (12). The Bengals were lead by Montrel
Goldston (26), Reed Lucas (22) and Quayshad Williams (15).
