Grasshoppers Announce NEW Coaching Staff for 2012

(Greensboro, NC) The Miami Marlins announced that Dave Berg will be the
field manager for the 2012 Greensboro Grasshoppers.

Hitting coach Frank Moore and pitching coach Blake McGinley will join
Berg. Patrick Amorelli, Athletic Trainer, will advance from Jamestown
to Greensboro.

The 2012 season marks Berg’s first at the helm of the Greensboro
Grasshoppers, after managing the Marlins’ short season affiliate, the
Jamestown Jammers, the last two years following a seven-year Major
League career.

Berg was selected by the Marlins out of the University of Miami in the
38th round of the 1993 First-Year Player Draft. When he made his Major
League debut for the Marlins on April 2, 1998, he became the lowest-ever
draft pick by Florida to reach the Major Leagues. He hit a career best
for the Marlins in 1998 with a .313 average. Following the 2001 season,
Berg signed with Toronto where he played for three seasons. Berg retired
following the 2006 season.

Berg hit .269 in 582 Major League contests and .288 in 665 Minor League
games, while playing primarily in the infield.

Blake McGinley is entering his second season with the Marlins
organization. Prior to this year, he served as the Jamestown Jammers
Pitching Coach.

McGinley was a 21st round draft pick by the New York Mets in 2001. He
spent seven years in the minor league system, six with the Mets and his
final year with the Marlins in 2007.

Frank Moore enters his first year as the Greensboro Grasshoppers’
Hitting Coach after one year with the Jupiter Hammerheads and two years
with Jamestown in the same capacity. Before being named Jamestown
hitting coach, he was playing with the Albuquerque Isotopes in 2007.

Moore was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in 1998 out of Middle
Georgia Junior College. He saw time with Marlins’ affiliates in
Jupiter, Carolina and Albuquerque from 2005-07.

The Greensboro Grasshoppers are the 2011 South Atlantic League
Champions. Season tickets, mini-ticket plans and advertising packages
