Dynamo’s Andrew Wenger Wins College Soccer Heisman

St Louis, MO. 2011 Dynamo standout Andrew Wenger was named College Soccer’s Hermann Trophy Award Winner as the best player in college soccer this past season. Wenger was one of three finalists, being named the winner tonight at the Missouri Athletic Club. Wenger becomes the 2nd Dynamo player in four years to win the award. Marcus Tracy was the other Dynamo player to win the award, being named college soccer’s best player back 2008. This past season with the Dynamo Wenger split his time on the field as both a defender and a forward. Andrew saw action in eight games scoring two goals for the South Atlantic Division Champions.

Wenger (Duke) is the only player in ACC history to earn both Defender of the Year and Attacking Player of the Year in back to back seasons. Andrew was name 1st Team All-ACC and 1st Team All-American as a forward this past season, leading the ACC in scoring with 17 goals and eight assists totaling 42 overall points.

Wenger recently decided to forgo his Sr season at Duke to enter the Major League Soccer Superdraft as part of the Generation Adidas program.
