Powerade State Games of North Carolina Registration Now Open
Event returns to Winston-Salem in 2012
DURHAM, North Carolina, January 19, 2012 – Registration is now open for the
Powerade State Games of North Carolina. North Carolina’s largest
multi-sport, amateur athletic sporting event will be held in Winston-Salem
June 15-24, 2012.
Seventeen different sports are offered in the 26th edition of the Powerade
State Games: baseball, basketball, cycling, disc golf, fencing, figure
skating, gymnastics, ice hockey, karate, lacrosse, shooting, soccer,
softball, swimming, taekwondo, track & field and wrestling. Athletes can
visit www.ncsports.org to register for each event.
The Powerade State Games will return to Winston-Salem for the second
consecutive year. The 2011 event included nearly 10,000 athletes and
coaches from 97 of 100 of North Carolina’s counties. More than 10,000
athletes and more than 20,000 spectators are expected to return to
Winston-Salem for the Powerade State Games in June.
The 2012 Opening Ceremonies will be held June 15 at Corpening Plaza in
downtown Winston-Salem. The Opening Ceremonies features a commemorative
gift for participating athletes, games, music, a parade of athletes and a
lighting of the cauldron to announce the official start to the 2012 Powerade
State Games of North Carolina. The Opening Ceremonies is free of charge to
athletes, family, friends and the general public.
North Carolina Amateur Sports (NCAS) is the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
that annually hosts the Powerade State Games of North Carolina and Cycle
North Carolina. NCAS is dedicated to the promotion of health, physical
