College Women’s Basketball Final – Va. Wesleyan 61, Guilford 49

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Sarah Seipp scored 12 of her game-high 17 points in the second half of Virginia Wesleyan College’s 61-49 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) basketball win over visiting Guilford College.

The Marlins (16-4, 13-2 ODAC) salvaged a split of the season series between the two teams and moved past Guilford (15-5, 12-3 ODAC) into sole possession of second place in the league standings. Since falling at Guilford Jan. 7, Virginia Wesleyan has won seven of its last eight contests.

A Seipp layup with 3:07 remaining in regulation capped the run, during which time Guilford was 0-for-6 from the floor.

Beth Ann Boyce made three three-pointers and finished with 10 points for Virginia Wesleyan. Nancy Kelly chipped in eight points and seven rebounds off the bench. The Marlins’ reserves outscored Guilford’s, 28-14.
