College Track & Field Results – Guilford Competes at JDL Fast Track College Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Dylan Skinner (Hillsborough, N.C./Orange) broke his own school record in the 800-meter run (1:57.68) to highlight Guilford College’s men’s track and field performance Saturday at the JDL Fast Track College Invitational. The sophomore shaved three seconds off of the standard he set last year and placed eighth in the 51-man field, first among NCAA Division III runners.

Guilford’s women’s 4×400-meter relay team of Emily Cash, Jasmine O’Neill, Jodie Geddes and Colleen Gonzalez also broke the school record Saturday. The quartet finished in a time of 4:58.70. O’Neill and Geddes also had strong showings in the meet individually for the women’s team. O’Neill’s time of 2:41.32 in the 800 missed the school record by less than one second. Geddes’ 200 time of 32.79 seconds was good enough for third-fastest in school history, just 0.38 behind the school record.

Chad Norton and Johnathan Smith also turned in strong performances for the men’s team. Norton set a personal best in the 5000 with a time of 15:41.22, while Smith notched the second-fastest 200 time in school history, 22.81 seconds. Norton was 10th in the 30-man field, tops among Division III contestants. Smith also placed 10th among 90 runners with the best Division III time.

David Cason (Clemmons, N.C./West Forsyth) recorded an 8:58.05 in the 3000-meter run, third-best in school history. He also teamed with Josh Farrar, Joseph Rangel and Skinner to post a time of 3:36.04 in the 4×400-meter relay.

Guilford returns to action February 19 at the Mason-Dixon Games in Newport News, Va.
