  1. Since this story appears to be submitted by a senior at Page, I will say that the lesson any high schooler or others seeing this story unfold is simply – opportunity, opportunity, opportunity. We always say in real estate it is about local, local, local but this story is about opportunity. There are so times in our lifes that we will often be defined by what we do. But what we do is really a reflexation of the opportunities we create and actually take advantage of in life. This kid could have given up basketball when the high D1 schools in his community would not even consider him for a schlarship (i.e. Stanford, CAL, and UCLA). He only went to Harvard because the others would not take him for basketball. After college, he was cut 2 or 3 times from teams such as Golden State and was assigned to the D-league which normally means “D” for done with basketball. Yet this kid made it and if he can stay health and continue to show this level of performance for at least another month with the other “big” name stars coming back, he will have played himself into a 2-3 multi-million contract.

Many of us would have given up after our dream schools refused to even consider us. Many would have given up when we were cut several times and just tried to be a lawyer or something. This story is really about not giving up and not being afraid to reach your dreams. I have always felt that when there is trouble at our doors that there is always a door of opportunity next to us or just beyond our problems. The only question is whether we will be patient enough to see the opportunity out or even to explore it in the first place. Beleive in yourself and keep your eyes open for opportunity. It will come to all of us in time but will we see it or even be prepared for its arrival.

  2. He is the first player in the NBA to be of Chinese or Taiwanese descent…..Isn’t Yao Ming Chinese?
