Bell Sets Elon School Record in Day One at VT Challenge

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Bria Bell set the new Elon school record in the 200-meter dash as the Elon track and field team competed in day one of the Virginia Tech Challenge today, Feb. 17, in Rector Field House.

Bell’s time of 24.99 placed her fifth in the event, while Dana Cataldo finished 12th with a time of 25.91. Cataldo also claimed 14th in the 60-meter dash after clocking a time of 7.96.

Veronica Lueke and Louise Prevoteau placed 10th and 14th, respectively, in the 60-meter hurdles with times of 9.13 and 9.28.

In the field events, Prevoteau earned 11th in the long jump with a leap of 5.25m. Charlise Morgan and Alyssa Girvin took 10th and 11th in the weight throw after tosses of 13.61m and 13.48m. Claire Smith was Elon’s top finisher in the pole vault after reaching a height of 3.30m.

Elon will compete in the final day of the Virginia Tech Challenge tomorrow, Feb. 17.
