Randolph Women’s Basketball Finishes 2012-12 Season with Loss at Washington and Lee

LEXINGTON, VA – The Randolph College women’s basketball team finished its 2011-12 season Saturday afternoon at Washington & Lee University, falling in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest 82-51 in action from the Warner Center.

The 2011-12 season saw Randolph win four more games than the previous year, also knocking Emory & Henry College last Saturday for its first league victory in over two years. Randolph was in the game with Washington and Lee Saturday, trailing by only two with 8:01 to go after a jumper from first-year Jensen Hoover (Woodstock, VA/Central).

WLU (13-12/11-9 ODAC) went on a 19-3 run over the final minute of the first half to take a 14-point edge into break. The WildCats shot well in the second half, but couldn’t match the Generals 60 percent shooting from the field in falling in the season finale.

First-year guard Bri Lowry (Herndon, VA/Herndon) posted a team-best 15 points, finishing with 276 points on the season. The point total for the first-year is the most for a newcomer since the 305 points Katie Rechnitzer posted back in the 2006-07 season.

Fellow first-year guard Chelsea Tyler (Richmond, VA/Henrico) posted eight points and five boards, while senior Lauren French (Blairs, VA/Chatham) was three-of-five for seven points in her final collegiate game. Fittingly enough, her one three-point attempt was good, as she finishes with 137 on her career.

Sophomore Courtney Bouchard (Fairfax, VA/W.T. Woodson) posted six points, while Dyllan Peterson (Baltimore, MD/Bryn Mawr) and Hoover each poured in five points apiece. Randolph finished 21-of-56 from the field (37.5 percent) and turned the ball over only 18 times.

Washington and Lee put give players in double-digits, led by the 18 points off the bench from Rachel Warrick. Katy Wilson had 16 points, Meg Ingram added 15, and Becca Bolton and Kari Pfannenstein each posted 10 points to help lead W&L.
