College Men’s Lacrosse Final – Guilford 14, Ferrum 13

FERRUM, Va. – Greg Nash’s goal with 1.9 seconds left gave visiting Guilford College a thrilling 14-13 lacrosse win at Ferrum College Saturday.
Nash’s game-winner capped a furious fourth-quarter rally that saw the Quakers (2-0) score five of the game’s final six goals. Nash scored his first of two goals with 4:14 remaining to get Guilford to within 12-11. Henry Farley tallied less than two minutes later to tie the game for the first time since the second quarter.

The Panthers won the ensuing faceoff and Justin Nelson scored unassisted with 2:21 left to go back ahead, 13-12.

Guilford tied the game with 49 seconds left when Jess Rogers scored a man-up goal off a Nick Mann assist. Ferrum won the ensuing faceoff, but Guilford’s Jaquan Tellis forced a turnover and set up Nash for his sixth career game-winner.

Farley and Chris Ashcraft both scored three times for the Quakers. Chase Clausen added a goal and three assists. Tellis totaled two goals, two assists and a game-high seven ground balls. Thomas Deane made eight saves in goal.

Nick Smith did all he could for the hosts, scoring eight times. Anderw Gibeau tallied once and had two assists. Josh Liptak and Damain Pulos combined for 11 saves in goal.

The Quakers play Birmingham Southern College next Saturday (2/25) in Clemson, S.C.
