North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association basketball playoffs continue today and they get into full swing with Quarterfinal action at Raleigh Ravenscroft and at St. David’s School in Raleigh…

Today with High Point Christian going in the early game(11:30am vs. FCD) and Greensboro Day facing Wesleyan in the late game(8:30pm)…

#1 High Point Christian Academy(29-1) vs. #9 Forsyth Country Day(17-15) 11:30am….FCD coached by Jack McHale and featuring Riley Larue, son of Rusty Larue….HPCA coached by Brandon Clifford and led today by Isiah Gill, Diante Baldwin, Joey McLean, Michael Obacha, Chuck Ogbodo and Stevie Williams…

#4 Greensboro Day School(29-3) vs. #5 Wesleyan Christian Academy(22-8) 8:30pm….GDS coached by Freddy Johnson who college basketball at Greenboro College and WES coached by Keith Gatlin, from Rocky Mount and he played his college ball at the University of Maryland, for the legendary Charles ‘Lefty’ Driesell….GDS with Jalen Ross, Reggie Dillard, Reed Lucas, Quayshad Williams, Christian Hairston, Julian Sampah, Montrell Goldston and Jake White, while WES will rely heavily on Theo Pinson and Jaquel Richmond and could be missing Montay Brandon and they would miss him in a bad way, if he can’t play…..Josh Woodward, Sammy Tyson and Michael Buckland could play key roles….

  1. Davidson Day beat Caldwell, think it was about 52 – 38 or so. They are a very, very good team. Athletic, a few good outside shooters and can defend. Our big guys (Michael & Matthew) each had a few shots blocked by their athletic big men. We played fairly well, they played much better. We fell behind early, clawed back to 30 – 26 and they ran off 10 points to make it 40 – 26. I think we got it to within 8 at one point after that, but they closed it out.

    On a whole, 3rd straight year Caldwell has won their first round playoff game on the road, beating a higher seed on their home court. Not bad. We’ll loe a few players, but be back strong next year. And girls lost I believe only 1 player and bring back several current 8th graders who contributed to the varsity team, making the playoffs for the first time I know of.
