College Women’s Lacrosse Final – Guilford 15, Marymount 14

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Freshman Eleanora Keene (Wittman, Md./Gunston Day School) scored with 29 seconds left in regulation to give Guilford College a 15-14 lacrosse victory over Marymount (Va.) University Saturday.

Keene’s lone goal of the game capped a stirring second-half comeback that saw the Quakers (2-1) erase a 10-5 halftime deficit. Lily Colley (Wells, Maine/Wells), who sparked the rally with five second-half goals, assisted the game-winner off a free-position opportunity. Colley scored the first two goals of the second half and tied the game for the first time with her third goal of the game at the 19:37 mark. Her final tally with 4:40 left gave Guilford a 14-13 edge, its first of the match.

E’leyna Garcia (Plantation, Fla./Pine Crest Prep) added three goals and an assist in the Quakers’ third game determined by one goal. Summer Frazier (Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood) scored three times and Becca Colley (Wells, Maine/Wells) contributed two goals, four ground balls and four draw controls. Keene had a game-best 10 draw controls and Liza Mettler (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Beaumont School) made nine saves in goal.

Marymount’s Taylor Johnson (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern) scored three goals, all in the first half. Stephanie Flood (Westborough, Mass./Westborough) tied the score at 14-14 with her third and final goal with 59 seconds left in the game off a free-position shot. Megan McGuirk (Baltimore, Md./Mt. DeSales Academy) added two goals and Molly Maher (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville) added seven ground balls and five caused turnovers, both game highs. Lourdes Lanzas (Vienna, Va./Way of Faith) made 12 saves in goal.

The Quakers host Greensboro College Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
