Triad roller derby fans take note: Greensboro Roller Derby is holding another exciting double-header! “MARZO LOCO” will take place on Saturday, March 24 at Simkins Sports Pavilion at Barber Park, which is located at 1500 Dans Rd in Greensboro. Doors open at 4:30. The first whistle blows at 5:00.
“MARZO LOCO” is the 2012 season’s second event and Greensboro Roller Derby’s second double-header. (The first was last year’s wildly successful Bewitched! double header in October.) The first bout of the evening will be between two of Greensboro Roller Derby’s home teams, the Mad Dollies and the Elm Street Nightmares. The main event will be a bout between Greensboro Roller Derby’s travel team, the Gate City Roller Girls, and Richmond’s Star City Roller Girls.
“MARZO LOCO” is a family-friendly event. Tickets will be available at the door. To avoid the rush and skip the line, fans are advised to take advantage of advance ticket sales online at ticketderby.com or through our website, greensbororollerderby.com. Advance tickets can also be purchased at Wild ‘N’ Crazy Vintage and Empire Books. Adult tickets are $10. Tickets for college students with a valid student ID are $8. Children 12 and under get in free. A portion of the evening’s proceeds will benefit the New Arrivals Institute, an area non-profit organization that assists refugees and immigrants gain self-sufficiency and US Citizenship through education.
Greensboro Roller Derby was founded in February 2010. Since the league’s debut bout in October of 2010, Greensboro Roller Derby has grown steadily, now supporting over forty skaters in three home teams that compete locally, and a highly competitive travel team that competes regionally.
