High Point University set to host 2012 Big South Women’s Basketball Championship

HIGH POINT, N.C. – High Point University and the HPU women’s basketball team will host the 2012 Big South Women’s Basketball Tournament at the Millis Center beginning Friday, March 9, and running through Sunday, March 11. The Panthers will be the No. 2-seed and play in the first game of the second session on Friday.

The tournament will kick-off on Friday at 12 p.m., when No. 1-seeded Liberty takes on No. 8 UNC Asheville in the first of four quarterfinal matchups. No. 4 Campbell will face No. 5 Charleston Southern in the second game of the day at 2:00 p.m. The second session begins at 5:30 p.m., with a game between the Panthers and No. 7 Coastal Carolina. The final game of the evening will feature Winthrop, the No. 3 seed, and Radford, the No. 6 seed, at 7:30 p.m.

The semifinals will take place on Saturday, March 10 at 1:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m., with the Big South Championship Game being played on Sunday, March 11, at 4 p.m. The winner of the Big South Championship receives an automatic bid to the 2012 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament.
