Ashley Edwards Nets Six in Randolph College Women’s Lax 15-7 Win Over Agnes Scott

DECATUR, GA – Randolph College sophomore midfielder Ashley Edwards (Sumerduck, VA/Liberty-Bealeton) busted out in a big way Thursday, netting a game-high six goals to lead the WildCat women’s lacrosse team to its first win of the season with a 15-7 victory over Agnes Scott College.

The WildCats (1-2) scored four of the first five goals of the game to lead 4-1. The Scotties (0-5) answered back with two tallies to make the score 4-3, but Randolph responded with seven unanswered tallies to put the game out of reach.

Edwards scored six to lead the way for Randolph, while first-year Taylor Klevenz (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill) posted three goals and two assists. Sophomore Samie Maggard (Baltimore, MD/Patapsco) registered a hat trick as well, while Nushaa Kaz (Raleigh, NC/Ravenscroft) scored once and dished out an assist.

Sophomore Courtney Kellogg (Tewksbury, MA/Central Catholic) netted her first goal of the 2012 season, and Melanie Eisele (Kennett Square, PA/Sanford School) came forward from her defensive assignment to score once. First-year keeper Samantha Fagone (Bayshore, NY/Bayshore) had 10 saves in the victory.

Randolph will now head home to take on the Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan College Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. in WildCat Stadium in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opener for the WildCats.
