‘Between the Lines’, with High School Baseball Tonight and this afternoon

*****With the Friday weather threatening rain, some teams are moving their Friday contests/games up one day and they will play on Thursday/today and tonight….*****

Reidsville at Southern Guilford 4:30pm Varsity to follow(JV/Varsity DH)
McMichael vs. Morehead [JV varsity DH] 4:30pm
Greensboro Day at Eastern Guilford 5pm
Charlotte Country Day at Wesleyan 5pm
West Forsyth at Northern Guilford 6pm
Caldwell Academy at Northeast Guilford 7pm
*****I say the best game of the day/night will be Caldwell Academy at NEG…What about the rest of you? Agree or disagree?? I don’t know a lot about West Forsyth, but I know that Northern is good and Eastern Guilford should have enough to get past Greensboro Day, but what about this Caldwell-NEG game??? Very intriguing, if you ask me…..Caldwell with one of the top NCISAA 2-A teams in the state and NEG the #1 3-A NCHSAA team in the pre-season polls….Caldwell with Sanfilippo, Mancuso, Branon,New, Ganim, the two Aker brothers(sons of Coach Matt Aker at Greensboro College and grandsons of Jack Aker[Atlanta Braves pitcher and Lynchburg Mets manager]???) and others, plus a solid coach in Dan Bozarth….This could turn out to be some good stuff here today/tonight….NEG has been battling the injury bug, but the Rams have also been battling a very tough non-conference schedule here early in the season and they need top performances today/tonight from Jaylin Davis, Jacob McCann, Josiel Colon, Jordan Brown, Matt Millaway, Cole Wyrick and the young bucks in Peoples, Watkins, Cannady, Mericka and others…..David Lawing, the Rams skipper, is a seasoned veteran….

I will put my money on this game today/tonight and see what happens…We know it is non-conference, but this still might get the talent pools flowing, when this game gets going at 7pm at Northeast Guilford….*****

  3. Josiel Colon is out for a week (hamstring) and Caleb McCain is out for atleast 4 (broke finger)
    **big loss for the rams

    -Millaway, Cannady and Brown are pitching tonight

  4. Eastern Guilford has more then enough to beat greensboro day they arent even remotely a threat to Eastern

  6. Greensboro Day has a good club this year, but will need there A game tonight for eastern!

  8. West Forsyth 6 Northern Guilford 3
    Eric Sonafrank (WP), Hunter Morgan (LP)

    Sonafrank looked sharp, scattering 4 hits over 4IP with 4K and only 1ER.
    Morgan went 3 innings giving up 4ER on 6H. Ryan Dirks looked good in relief going the final 4 innings (1ER, 3H, 4K).

    For NG, DC Arendas scored all 3 runs, going 2 for 2 (singles) and 2 BB. Trip Dunn had a good night reaching base 3 of 4 times (2 singles, BB). Brandt Williams had a double and an RBI. Sean Mas, Andrew Schneider and Seth Collins also collected singles. NG just couldn’t get the clutch hits tonight with runners on base.

    For WF, Jacob Campbell was 3 for 4 (singles) with 2 RBI. Max Uhlig had a triple and Kyle Humphrey, Chad Felton, Zack French, Kyle Willard and Colin Ciminnisi collected singles.
