I haven’t heard much out of these two kids this year, but when I cut on my car radio tonight, I quickly caught the name of Deuce Bello from Jamestown and Westchester Country Day School…Bello is with the Baylor Bears and they ended up losing 90-75 to the Missouri Tigers, but Bello was right there on the radio and he was being called for a charge and then the next thing you know he was at the foul line making a free throw…..Quincy Miller from WCD was in there too as a reserve for the Bears…
That is pretty headsy stuff considering I hadn’t heard a thing about those boys this year and here goes Bello for 13 points in the Big 12 Title game today and Quincy Miller added 6 points for the Baylor Bears….Not bad for two young men that we hadn’t heard a thing about this season and they are big contributors for the Bears this season, as they make a run to the NCAA Tournament next week….
Here is the line on Deuce Bello and Quincy Miller from today’s game versus Frank Haith’s(Western Alamance/Wake Forest/Miami) Missouri Tigers….Again a very crazy thing to cut on your car radio and to hear a kid’s name from your area playing on the National Stage and I just saw him over at Greensboro Day School taking down the Bengals last year…..
That line on Bello and Miller:
MIN FGM-A 3PM-A FTM-A OREB REB AST STL BLK TO PF PTS
Deuce Bello, G 22 min… 4-6 FG… 0-1 3-pt… 5-8 FT’s… 5 OREB… 6 REB…5 PF.. 13 pts.
Quincy Miller, F 25 3-8 0-1 0-0 1 3 0 0 0 2 0 6 pts.
Duece hasn’t played a ton of minutes this year but he has played off the bench most games. He’s made sports center highlights a few times which isn’t surprising being such a great athlete. He probably could win the NBA dunk contest right now if they would let him enter. He’s going to be a star at Baylor before he leaves there.
Sure wish he could have stayed at Ragsdale along with Frye and Canty and all the rest. A lot of talent out of Jamestown the last few years. Look forward to seeing what Canty can do at ASU next year.
What happened to Jonathan Frye?
Was at Tulane, suffered a concussion in a hard hit to the head his freshman year, left there and transferred to UNC-Wilmington and chose not to play there…..At least for now….
