College Women’s Tennis Final – Guilford 8, Lynchburg 1

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Guilford College’s women’s tennis team downed Lynchburg College, 8-1, Sunday in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match. The visiting Quakers (5-7, 3-3 ODAC) won their second straight match. Lynchburg is 2-6 (1-4 ODAC).

Freshman Haley Andrews dropped down a flight to second singles for the first time this season and recorded a 6-3, 6-1 win over the Hornets’ Melissa Drinkard. She teamed with Allison Hewitt for an 8-4 victory at second doubles. Hewitt was a straight-set winner at fourth singles.

Adelaide Ayres made her fourth singles appearance of the season and notched a 6-2, 6-1 win at sixth singles. She teamed with Dominique Crespo at third doubles and posted an 8-2 victory for the tandem’s sixth straight victory.

Kelsey Bergen scored Lynchburg’s point with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Guilford’s Natalie Sutton, who was making her season debut at first singles.

The Quakers are in action March 23 at Averett University.
