Greensboro College Baseball Rallies Past Guilford at New Bridge Bank Park

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) — The Greensboro College baseball team scored six runs in the fifth and five in the eighth to rally past Guilford on Tuesday, 11-9. The victory completed a season sweep of the Quakers, as The Pride earned a 6-3 road win on February 8. Tuesday’s game was played at New Bridge Bank Park in downtown Greensboro, NC.

Guilford raced out to an early lead in this one, scoring one run in the fourth and five in the fifth to open up a 6-0 lead. Greensboro answered with six runs in the bottom of the frame, highlighted by a two run single by James Feldmann and a two-run home run by Steven Pfeiffer.

The Quakers went back on top in the seventh, scoring a single run to regain the advantage at 7-6. The lead was brief, however, as The Pride took control in the eighth with five runs on three hits to take a commanding 11-7 lead.

Feldmann came up with another two RBI hit in the outburst, hammering out a double that scored Aaron Navarro and Seth Caison. Josh Pettiford added the go ahead run, earlier in the inning, with a infield single that brought Jon Krecicki home.

Greensboro was forced to fend off one last Guilford charge in the ninth, as the Quakers pulled to within 11-9 with two runs. David Schilling put an end to threat and picked up the win in the process, tossing the final 1.2 innings.

Jacob Cadle started the game on the mound for The Pride and went 5.0 innings before turning the ball over to Ramel Graham, who went 2.1.

The Greensboro bats accumulated 11 hits on the night with Feldmann contributing a game high three. Also recording multiple hit efforts were Pfeiffer and Caision.

The Pride are now 17-10 on the season. Greensboro will travel to Lynchburg for a 6 p.m. contest on Wednesday before hosting North Carolina Wesleyan for a Saturday/Sunday series this weekend.
