College Men’s Lacrosse Final – Randolph-Macon 14, Guilford 12

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Tyler Midwinter scored three goals and two assists in Randolph-Macon College’s 14-12 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) lacrosse win at Guilford College Saturday.

The Yellow Jackets (9-3, 3-0 ODAC) staved off a late Guilford rally to remain unbeaten in league play. Jake Leddy’s tally capped a 5-1 spurt two minutes into the fourth quarter, which opened Randolph-Macon’s largest lead of the game, 13-8. Guilford (6-5, 1-3 ODAC) answered with four straight scores and made it a 13-12 game on Chris Sisk’s goal with 6:30 left.

Randolph-Macon settled and Midwinter set up a Justin Butler goal with 4:10 remaining, which restored the two-goal edge that proved the final margin. The Quakers could not regain their momentum of earlier in the quarter, and the Yellow Jackets preserved their seventh win in eight games.

Butler and Jason Andrews both scored three goals for Randolph-Macon. Leddy added two goals and an assist. The Yellow Jackets scored on two-of-three man-up chances and held a narrow 35-34 edge in shots. Jason Crawford made seven saves in goal, including an acrobatic point-blank stop on Guilford’s Nick Mann in the game’s final minutes.

Chase Clausen and Taylor Teodosio both scored three goals and an assist for the Quakers. Mann also finished with four points on two goals and two assists. Nick Huckins picked up a game-high five ground balls and caused two turnovers. Thomas Deane had seven saves in goal.

Coach Tom Carmean’s Quakers host league-rival Hampden-Sydney College Saturday (4/7) at 1:00 p.m.
