Two Elon Track and Field Relay Teams Set Records at Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Elon track and field team set two records today, March 31, in the final day of competition at the Raleigh Relays.

Records came in the 4×100-meter and 4×200-meter relays. The 4×100 team, comprised of Dana Cataldo, Amy Salek, Bria Bell and Veronica Luedke, clocked a record time of 47.14 for eighth out of the 19 teams in the race. The 4×200 team, which included Cataldo, Bell, Luedke and Salek, claimed sixth with a new record time of 1:39.43. The 4×400-meter relay team took eighth out of 30 teams with a time of 3:46.11 by members Bell, Luedke, Louise Prevoteau and Sakek.

Luedke took 14th in the 400-meter hurdles after posting a 1:03.87, while Abigail Steinsiek finished 50th with a time of 1:10.07. Cataldo earned 14th in the 200-meter dash, clocking a 25.79.

In the javelin, Suzanne Martin took 13th with a heave of 119’2”. Alyssa Girvin earned 30th in the hammer throw after a throw of 140’6”, while Charlise Morgan made a toss of 132’10” for 35th.

Elon will send athletes to both the Duke Invitational and the Liberty Collegiate Invitational next week, Friday – Saturday, April 6 – 7.
