Baseball Blasts Emory & Henry in Non-Conference Finale

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) — The Pride baseball team beat Emory & Henry, 13-3, on Thursday evening in its non-conference finale. Greensboro raced out to a 5-0 lead and rolled to the win behind a 17 hit attack.

Seth Caison scored the first run on an error in the third inning. Bill Wooding sacrificed squeezed Kyle Schmidt home and was driven home for the final run of the frame on an RBI single by James Feldmann.

Caison jump started a two run fourth with an RBI single that scored Matthew Parker. Austin Catherina pushed the advantage to 5-0, scoring on a throwing error by the catcher.

The Wasps reached the scoreboard in the bottom of the inning with two runs to narrow the margin to 5-2. Feldmann got a run back for The Pride in the fifth, doubling home Wooding for a 6-2 lead.

Three Greensboro runs, with the help of two Emory & Henry miscues, essentially put the game away in the sixth. The Pride would tack on another four runs in the eighth and cruise to the 13-3 finish.

Feldmann, Caison and Catherina each finished the day with three hits apiece. Wooding and Schmidt chipped in with two hits. Greensboro was also aided by eight Wasp errors.

Ramel Graham earned the victory, with 5.0 solid innings. Graham allowed only one earned run on six hits.

The Pride are now 20-11 on the season. Greensoboro will conclude the regular season with a Friday, Saturday conference series at Ferrum. Friday’s game time has been pushed back from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday’s start is still scheduled for 7 p.m.
