WildCat Men’s Lacrosse Topped By No. 3 Lynchburg College 16-1

LYNCHBURG, VA – The No. 3 Lynchburg College men’s lacrosse team jumped out to an early 6-0 lead and coasted to a 16-1 victory over Randolph College in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) battle from WildCat Stadium Wednesday evening.

The WildCats (3-9/0-5 ODAC) got a great effort from senior keeper Kevin McCracken (Annandale, VA/Annandale), as he stopped 20 shots in his final home game at Randolph College. Randolph only trailed the Hornets by one after seven minutes, but a five goal stretch over the last six minutes of the first period put LC (11-1/4-0 ODAC) up 6-0 after the first period.

LC outscored Randolph 4-0 in the second, and chalked up the first six goals of the second half before the WildCats got on the board with a goal from junior John Croney (Wilmington, DE/Brandywine) with 1:04 left. McCracken saw 63 shots come his way, while the WildCats took 18 on the evening. McCracken moved into fourth place on the ODAC all-time saves list Wednesday, surpassing former Lynchburg keeper Rick Olin.

Junior Ryan Blackwell (Brambleton, VA/Briar Woods) had four ground balls and two caused turnovers for Randolph, while Colton Wood (Chula Vista, CA/Otay Ranch) added four ground balls.

LC was led by Charlie Oldendorp, who posted four goals and an assist on the night. LC won the ground ball battle 72-34, and forced 44 turnovers on the night. Lynchburg also was dominant at the face-off dot, winning 15 of the 20 draws taken.

Randolph will look to rebound on Saturday afternoon as it heads to Salem, VA for another league test, this time taking on No. 13 Roanoke College at 2 p.m. at Kerr Stadium.
