GC Baseball Drops Key Conference Match-up With Ferrum

The Pride baseball team came up short in a key USA South showdown with Ferrum on Friday afternoon, 7-4. Both teams entered the two game weekend series at 5-5 in the conference with third place on the line. A Greensboro win on Saturday could still move it into third depending on how the tiebreaker plays out.

The Panthers took complete control from the beginning, scoring one run in the first and second innings apiece, two in the third and two in the fifth to take a 6-0 lead.

The Pride rallied back in the sixth with three runs of their own to pull to within 6-3. All three runs came in on a homerun by James Feldmann.

Ferrum answered with a run in the bottom of the sixth and Michael Cobb capped the scoring for Greensboro in the eighth with an RBI triple.

The Pride finished the afternoon with five hits from five different players. Jacob Cadle suffered the loss, going 6.0 innings and allowing four earned runs.

The loss drops Greensboro to 20-12 overall and 5-6 in the USA South. The Pride and Panthers will square off again on Saturday at 7 p.m.
