Elon Track and Field Completes Weekend Action

ELON, N.C. – The Elon track and field team broke two records today in competition at the Liberty Collegiate Invitational and the Duke Invitational today, April 7.

Louise Prevoteau broke the three-year old school record in the heptathlon at the Liberty Collegiate Invitational in Lynchburg, Va., on her way to first in the event with a point total of 4,854. The freshman took first in the long jump (18’3”), third in the javelin (94’4”) and first in the 800-meter run (2:19.06).

The 4×100-meter relay team, comprised of Dana Cataldo, Kayleigh Birks, Cara Hughes and Veronica Luedke, finished second with a time of 47.75.

In the 100-meter dash, Cataldo matched her school record with a time of 12.29 for fourth. Birks finished ninth in the event after posting a time of 12.75, while Hughes earned 14th with a time of 13.15. Cataldo (25.62), Birks (26.15) and Hughes (27.22) claimed fifth, 11th and 19th in the 200m.

Abigail Steinsiek posted a 1:02.90 for 11th in the 400-meter dash and took ninth in the 400-meter hurdles with a 1:09.36. Luedke claimed seventh in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.85. In the 800-meter run, Erin Macbeth earned 19th after clocking a 2:33.05.

In the field events, Claire Smith took second in the pole vault after reaching a height of 10’11.75”. Jordan Lee reached 5’1.75” in the high jump for eighth. Alyssa Girvin (122’4”) and Charlise Morgan (92’4”) finished 14th and 29th, respectively, in the discus. In the shot put, Morgan hit a mark of 42’9.75” for sixth. Janelle McNeil earned 20th in the long jump with a leap of 16’1.75 and 11th in the triple jump with a mark of 35’9”.

At the Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C., Bria Bell fell just short of her school record in the 200m with a time of 24.48 for fifth. Amy Salek finished right behind in sixth after posting a 24.71. Salek also earned fourth in the 400m with a time of 55.23.

Emily Tryon took fourth in the 3,000-meter stepplechase after clocking a time of 11:02.76. Allyson Oram posted a 10:08.23 for ninth in the 3,000-meter run, while Morgan Denecke claimed 15th with a time of 10:27.19.

In the 800m developmental run, Christine Pacewicz posted the best time for the Phoenix with a 2:22.73 for sixth. Brennan McDavid followed in seventh with a 2:22.92 and Ellie Taff took ninth with a time of 2:23.56.

Elon will compete in the Kent Taylor – Joe Hilton UNC Invitational next Saturday, April 14, in Chapel Hill, N.C.
