GC Baseball Downs Ferrum, 8-3, in Regular Season Finale

The Pride baseball team took down Ferrum, 8-3, on the road in its regular season finale on Saturday night. Greensboro concludes the season at 21-12 overall and is sits in a three-way tie for third place heading into the USA South tournament.

James Feldmann opened the scoring in the top half of the first with a run scoring single to center for an early 1-0 Pride lead. Ferrum rallied in the bottom of the first with three runs to grab a 3-1 advantage.

Greensboro would make a run of its own in the second, scoring five two out runs to go back on top 6-3. Bill Wooding drew a bases loaded walk for the first run, followed by a two run single by Matthew Parker. Steven Pfeiffer concluded the outburst with a two RBI single of his own.

Feldmann was back at it again in the sixth, adding another run on an RBI double to right center to give The Pride a 7-3 lead. Seth Caison contributed the final run in the ninth with an infield single that allowed Kyle Schmidt to cross home.

Greensboro finished the night with ten total hits. Caison had a team high three hits, followed by Feldmann with two.

Michael Cobb put together a complete game gem on the mound, allowing three runs on nine hits.

Next on the slate for The Pride is the USA South baseball tournament on April 12-15 in Burlington, NC. Greensboro is the #3 seed and will face #6 seed Averett on Thursday at 1 p.m.
