College Women’s Lacrosse Final – Guilford 16, Randolph-Macon 10

ASHLAND, Va. – Summer Frazier scored five goals and teammate E’leyna Garcia added four in Guilford College’s 16-10 women’s lacrosse win at Randolph-Macon College Saturday.

The victory clinched a share of second place in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) regular-season standings and marked the Quakers’ (9-4, 6-1 ODAC) school-record sixth league victory. Guilford, which has matched the school record for wins in a season, visits nationally ranked Washington and Lee University (11-3, 7-0 ODAC) Wednesday (4/18). The winner earns first place in the ODAC standings.

Frazier dent the twine four times and Liza Mettler made 13 of her career-high 20 saves in the first half, which staked Guilford to a 7-4 halftime lead. Frazier’s fifth goal opened the second-half scoring. Teammate Kathryn Carella followed with her second score for a 9-4 Quakers’ edge.

Randolph-Macon reeled off three straight goals and drew to within 9-7 with 22:15 remaining. Guilford regained its composure and scored five of the next seven tallies, including three straight by Garcia.

Garcia added an assist and finished with five points in the game. Carella, Eleanora Keene and Julia Fraser each scored twice.

Emily Lynch led all goal scorers with six and goalie Nicole Woodworth made 10 stops in goal for the Yellow Jackets (8-7, 4-4 ODAC).

Guilford visits the nationally ranked University of Mary Washington Sunday (4/15) afternoon in a nonconference game.
