Greensboro College Men’s Golf Wins USA South Championship; Scott Novicki Takes Individual Title

(BURLINGTON, N.C.) — The Pride men’s golf team held on to win the USA South Championship while Scott Novicki took home the individual title. Greensboro led wire-to-wire to win the school’s third conference championship and earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The Pride took an 18-stroke lead into the final day and held off a late charge by Methodist for the victory. Greensboro shot a final round score of 303 to finish at 878 (288-284-303) overall. The Monarchs came in second with a team score of 883.

Scott Novicki (73-72-74) won the individual title, beating out teammate Nick Peoples (71-68-80) and Methodist’s Mike Duncan in a play-off. All three players shot a three day total of 219. The play-off went three holes, with Duncan dropping out on the second and Novicki edging Peoples on the third.

Also finishing in the top five for Greensboro was Joshua Hudgins with a 220 (70-73-77). Ben Nihart placed ninth at 225 (74-71-80) while Kirk Mitchell rounded out the group in tenth at 226 (74-77-75).

The NCAA Division III Championship will be held on May 15-18 at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL.
