The two teams went eight innings, the last two in the rain to decide a
winner in Tuesday night’s game. Northwest took a 3 – 2 lead into the
seventh inning as they scored the go ahead run in the bottom of the sixth on
a Keaton Haack single to drive in Jackson Bellinkes who had singled leading
off the inning.

After a twenty minute delay because of lightening in the area, Ragsdale
rallied in the rain to tie the game up in the top of the seventh. Ben
Fischer got a one out single but was forced at second on a Niko Orfanedes
grounder. Down to their last out, Mitch Carstens doubled to the wall in
left centerfield to drive in Orfanedes with the tying run.

Northwest loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh with one out, but
Carstens pitched out of the jam to send the game to the eighth. After
Ragsdale went in order, Haack singled on a wicked shot to right field, was
sacrificed to second and got to third on a passed ball. Jesse Juday then
put down a perfect squeeze bunt with Haack breaking on the pitch and just
beating the throw to the plate with the winning run.

Northwest improved to 7 – 2 in Piedmont Triad Conference play and were led
at the plate by Keaton Haack who was 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and an RBI.
Adam Swim also had two hits for the Vikings in four trips to the plate.

Ragsdale dropped to 4 – 5 in the Conference. Mitch Carstens was 1 for 2
with a double and an RBI. Ben Fischer was 2 for 4 with a run scored and
Kyle Morrison was 1 for 2 with a double driving in a run and also had 2
intentional walks.
