Aaron Jones(Winston-Salem State) CIAA Baseball Player of the Year

The Winston-Salem State Rams are 31-17 overall, plus they finished (15-3) in the CIAA and won the league’s regular season title…Aaron Jones(Gospel Light/Grimsley HS) has been named the CIAA Baseball Player of the Year, with Travis Moore of Dudley and Scott Wells(Greensboro Day/Northern Guilford HS) both being named to the Second Team All-Conference squad…Congratulations to Aaron Jones on this honor and Good Luck to the WSSU Rams in the CIAA Tournament and then on to the NCAA’s……

Hampton, VA – The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, in conjunction with the CIAA Baseball Coaches Association, has announced its selections for the 2012 All-Conference, All-Rookie Team and Player of the Year, and WSSU’s Aaron Jones takes home the CIAA’s top honor.

CIAA Baseball Player of the Year, Aaron Jones, hailing from Winston-Salem State University (Jr./1B/6-2/History/Kernersville,NC) leads his team into championship play with 79 hits, 54 RBI, 6 home runs and 388 put outs.

Joining Aaron Jones on the CIAA first team is teammates Brandon Harrison (OF), Travis Moore (DH), Michael Robbins (C) and German Reyes (2B). Scott Wells (RHP), Dominique Fitzgerald (OF), Devin McLemore (3B) and Paco Martin (SS) were all second team All-CIAA selections. McLemore was also selected to the All-Rookie Team.

The All-Conference and Rookie Teams will be honored at the 2012 CIAA Spring Sports Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, April 18 at 6:00pm on the campus of Virginia State University.
