High Point’s Fraser Gets Third Big South Scholar-Athlete Honor

High Point University senior Kelsey Fraser was named Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year for women’s outdoor track & field, the conference announced on Monday. Fraser was also named Scholar-Athlete of the Year in cross country and indoor track & field.

Fraser became High Point’s first-ever three-time Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She is a two-time All-Conference honoree, a four-time Millis Scholar-Athlete and three-time member of the Big South Presidential Honor Roll.

In the Big South Outdoor Championship last Friday, Fraser placed sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:15.72. She placed 14th in the 3,000-meter and 16th in the mile at the Big South Indoor Championship.

Fraser was the lone senior to score on High Point University’s first-ever Big South champ cross country team last fall. Fraser earned All-Conference honors, finishing 10th in a career-best 18:14 on the 5,000-meter course in Conway, S.C. The Panthers placed five runners in the top 10 and High Point defeated Liberty for the team crown.

Last spring, Fraser won the Big South title in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and set and HPU record of 10:52.72.

Originally from Lockport, N.Y., Fraser holds a 3.86 grade-point average in Exercise Science.
