• The Phoenix raised nearly $12,000 during its first BaseBald event. Following Sunday’s game with UNCG, members of the baseball team, along with coaches of other teams, had their heads shaved to help raise money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation to fight pediatric cancer.
• Elon swept a three-game set from Triad rival UNCG over the weekend. Sunday’s game three featured an incredible pitching performance by Spencer Medick (9.1 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 13 K) and a 10th-inning walk-off homer by Ryan Kinsella as the maroon and gold completed the sweep with a 3-1 victory.
• Elon will play a home-and-home set with Wake Forest on Tuesday and Wednesday before hosting Western Carolina for a SoCon series beginning on Saturday evening. The Phoenix and Demon Deacons split their two meetings last year, while Elon swept the set at Western Carolina last season.
• The Phoenix and Catamounts played one of the most memorable games of the year in the 2011 SoCon Tournament. Elon and WCU went 20 innings, the longest game in Elon and SoCon Tournament history, before the Phoenix fell by a 10-7 margin.

Softball (20-22, 8-13 SoCon)

• Elon will end its 11-game road swing with a doubleheader at nearby N.C. A&T on Wednesday at 3 p.m. Last year’s contest between the Phoenix and the Aggies was cancelled due to inclement weather.
• The maroon and gold will return home for the first time since April 15 for its last regular-season games against College of Charleston. Elon won the series over the Cougars, 2-1, last year in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
• Sunday will mark Senior Day for the program’s three seniors – Danielle Lafferty, Erin O’Shea and Kaitlyn Piazzolla. The trio has helped Elon to 103 wins over the past four seasons.
