  1. Eastern Alamance 6
    Rockingham County 1
    WP: Nick Monroe (10 k’s)

Nick with a really strong game on the mound with a scout from the Cardinals looking on. He had a perfect game going with just four outs to go before a Cougar poked one into left. Eagles advance to play at McMichael tomorrow night.

  2. Scout said he was topping out at 88. Not going to get him drafted high enough to sign. Should go to college and develop himself some more quality pitches

  3. He didn’t have his best stuff last night, but still got the job done. I agree he should and is probably headed to Wilmington and can still develop some other pitches, but when the Marlins (at least I think it was them) came last week against Williams he hit 94 and was consistently in the 89-90 range. He has some heat when he is on.

  4. Monroe is very good. I was at the Williams game behind the scout and he hit 92 twice. 94 is a different caliber. If he were to be scene at 94the with that frame then they are going to pay him some money. If he developed a plus changeup he would be unhittable

  5. monroe is a good pitcher, no where near the caliber of a major league pitcher. Adam Huffman for Western Alamance has better “stuff” and close to the same velocity give or take a few mphs. Monroe will be good but Huffman is already there.

  6. Huffman is a good pitcher, but I would not say he is ahead of Monroe. Monroe has a nasty curve when he can locate it, something he struggled to do until midway through this year, but has been pretty hard to touch over the last several games. Does need to mix in a changeup more often, but has gotten away with his higher velocity so far. Not saying Monroe is ready for the pro’s either, but he is a good one, there is a reason scouts keep showing up to watch him.

  7. I think all that really needs to be said is that Nick and Adam are both really good baseball players who have bright futures in front of them! Both schools are lucky to have them.
