  1. Sad end. One of the best at his position.

Local connection – Reuben Davis from Grimsley and UNC, played with Seau on the Chargers Super Bowl team. It’s been stated that eight members of that team have died.

  2. I was hearing the same thing…Any idea who those 8 or some of them were from the Chargers…..Wasn’t Natrone Means(Concord/UNC) on that team…..

  3. Andy:
From Wikepedia: “The Chargers defeated the heavily-favored Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1994 AFC Championship game. Within 18 months, Chargers running back Rodney Culver was killed in a plane crash in Florida and Chargers linebacker David Griggs died in a car accident.
Including Griggs and Culver, 7 members of the Chargers only Super Bowl team have died untimely deaths. Linebacker Doug Miller was fatally struck by two bolts of lightning in July 1998 in Colorado. Center Curtis Whitley and defensive lineman Chris Mims both died in 2008, at age 39 and 38, respectively.[12] Defensive Lineman Shawn Lee and Linebacker Lew Bush both died in 2011 of cardiac arrest. And now number eight with the death of Junior Seau

  4. Natrone Means was on that team. Saw him twice last summer. He was working at VTO combine in Charlotte. Also does some skill training for football prospects.

  5. Good info all the way around and I do think that Curtis Whitley was later on with the Carolina Panthers after the Chargers and thinking he was an offensive lineman who died from alcohol poisoning…..Drank himself to death and died down around Smithfield or Selma…..
