Ahead for the playoffs beginning next Friday May 11, it looks like this so far, at least from what we hearing….
#4 Metro Dudley at #1 PT East Forsyth
#4 PT Glenn at #1 Metro Southeast Guilford
#3 Metro Western Guilford at #2 PT Southwest Guilford
#3 PT Northwest Guiulford at #2 PT Southern Alamance
Are there any 3A playoff matchups set im stone so far Andy?
Not sure of any of the 3-A’s yet…Was talking to NEG assistant coach White last week and they are looking East as usual and so will Northern Guilford…Recently NEG has gone on a spin with the Chapel Hill/Orange County teams and met any of the Mid-State teams later on….Northern might see some of their own Mid-State teams by Round Two….
Gone for the year are Grimsley, Smith, Southern Guilford, Eastern Guilford, Page, Ragsdale, High Andrews, High Point Central and that should us 7 teams in the playoffs with SEG, Dudley, WG, NWG, SWG, NEG and NG all still in…..
Dudley will be the # 3 seed and they will play SW
Since Dudley defeated Page and WG lost to Grimsley(In the tournament), then did that move Dudley up???

Not so fast. The PT4A Tournament isn’t over yet. If Glenn wins it then they would go in at #2 and host Dudley.
Or NW could be #2 if they win it.
With the set-up in the PT 4-A your top man could have gone last night(Wednesday) and then could be ready to come back again on Monday in the final….PT 4-A with Weds. Friday and Monday format…..You might also have your top pitcher go 4-5 on WEDS. and if you had the game won, pull him out and he could come on in relief for you on Friday or a lot of combinations could be at your disposal….Dylan Ward of EF was really tough last year and we know that Keaton Haack and Matt Orth will tough every time out for NWG and SWG…..SWG has some depth at pitcher and they could come back with Orth on Friday and then still have Geoghean for Monday with Dale and Miller around if you need them on Monday…..Orth vs. Haack, with SWG vs. NWG a few weeks back, was a ‘Classic’ and NWG won it on a suicide squeeze by Colson Everett that scored Keaton Haack with the winning run from third in the bottom of the 7th…..Ought to be great battle with those two on Friday….NWG would really get a boost if Adam Swim was ready to come back this eeek or at the beginning of next week….
I heard that Dudley will have the ‘Big Man’ Brandon Burkes back for the playoffs….That will be a nice boost for the Panthers….Hope Coach Larry Farrer is back soon too, his health has not been good the past week or so and we hope he has another big comeback in him…Get well soon Coach Larry….Deon, Talton and Coach Chuck need your back……
We will be pulling for all the area teams in the playoffs this year. Grimsley had a tough year and had some crazy bad luck with injuries to key players and balls bouncing the wrong way…but that’s baseball. I think we will have a strong team next year but will miss our graduating seniors and wish them all the best in all their endevors.
Also a special thanks to Coach Simmons and Shumate for thier time and extra effort this season. I assume Coach Shumate is moving on to other things since Kory is graduating. We were blessed to have Kieth as an assistant this year. It was nice to see the calm demenor of our coaches when calls and circumstances were not going our way. Both had a way of calmly, quietly correcting and encouraging players.
77 all we know is we are # 3 and dont play # 1 we will be there where ever the baseball Gods send us.
